In the same ophiolite, ultrabasic springs carry 0.06 to 1.20 mg/L of dissolved hydrogen, evidence of serpentinization today.
500 claims, about 12,500 ha, on the Blow Me Down and Lewis Hills massifs, acquired for geologic hydrogen and critical minerals (December 2025).
10 licences, about 126 km², over the Bay of Islands Ophiolite Complex and a northern ophiolite sequence (August 2026).
Staked six natural hydrogen projects on the west coast in March 2026, including Bay of Islands, and in September 2026 reported soil gas anomalies at Smoking Gun and Parson’s Pond.

Springs at the Tablelands, part of the Bay of Islands Ophiolite Complex, carry 0.06 to 1.20 mg/L of dissolved hydrogen. The reaction is running today.
Trace live oil and bitumen at Little Port, pyrobitumen at Bottle Cove, hydrocarbon-stained limestone at Trumpet Cove and possible gas venting on the floor of the bay.
First Atlantic Nickel, Luma Hydrogen, and Benton Resources with Metals Creek have all taken natural hydrogen ground in western Newfoundland since December 2025.
Two licences along the western margin of the complex. Route 450 from Corner Brook reaches the southern licence.

Bay of Islands Ophiolite Complex — Active Serpentinization
Million years old
Ultramafic massifs
The licences lie along the western margin of the Bay of Islands Ophiolite Complex, ancient ocean crust and upper mantle about 485 million years old, beside four ultramafic massifs.
Provincial records — Ready to Test
Dissolved hydrogen in high-pH spring waters
Hydrogen data on the licences from Brutus’s first program
At the Tablelands, part of the same complex, researchers measured dissolved hydrogen of 0.06 to 1.20 mg/L in high-pH spring waters, evidence of serpentinization today.
Fluid Pathways
Provincial records describe trace live oil and bitumen at Little Port, pyrobitumen at Bottle Cove, hydrocarbon-stained limestone at Trumpet Cove and possible gas venting on the floor of the Bay of Islands.
Ready to Test
Brutus’s first program will generate the first hydrogen data on the licences, in the same complex where Tablelands springs carry hydrogen.

The Bay of Islands Project is in western Newfoundland, Canada. Its two coastal licences lie along the western margin of the Bay of Islands Ophiolite Complex.
The project covers 322 claims in two licences totalling 80.5 km²: the North Licence 040596M (88 claims) and the South Licence 040594M (234 claims).
Brutus Mining holds an option to acquire 100% of the Bay of Islands Project under an option agreement with Benton Resources Inc. (TSXV: BEX) and Metals Creek Resources Corp. (TSXV: MEK).
The two coastal licences have road access. Route 450 from Corner Brook reaches the southern licence.

Natural hydrogen is emerging as a new source of clean energy, generated underground, most commonly when groundwater reacts with iron-rich rock. It forms underground, with no manufacturing step.
Yes. At the Tablelands, part of the same complex, researchers measured dissolved hydrogen of 0.06 to 1.20 mg/L in high-pH spring waters, evidence of serpentinization today (Szponar et al., Icarus 224, 2013).
The Company will announce further plans for exploration of hydrogen across the Project.
